"The Crossroad

A place where you linger, for a brief moment. Pausing at how surreal life can be, blooming with possibilities. And yet, right before the choosing, breathless anticipation and the exhilaration of  leaning into a new directionAnxiously peering in just far enough to see a glimpse of the future, right before that first unretractable step...and while this forward movement can be daunting,

it is better than being stuck...
or maybe just maybe you are meant to blaze a new trail.

Either choice is truly navigable with the right guide.  -easw 7/16/2021

WHAT I OFFER

I like to help you find the courage to change. I do this by sharing tools and teaching skills to support helpful communication, how to get your needs met, how to handle distress, and regulate your emotions.  These changes take time and support and I will provide both.

The modalities I employ are CBT, DBT, Socratic questioning, and assigning homework.  I am a CBT practitioner and certified Auricular Acupressure Practitioner. I am in the process of becoming a SMART Recovery Facilitator.

  ABOUT ME

I come from a large family. I am married and have a son who is 27. I adore my lil Cocker Spaniel who, before the Corona Virus, was an emotional support dog with my in-office clients. She is still supportive and will say "hello" to you over Zoom.  I fell in love with our mountains in Southern Arizona from the first time I saw them at the age of 5. I am continually in awe at the mountainous view from Oro Valley Arizona. It holds fond memories, marking milestones throughout my life.

Over a three day time frame, I  have hiked from the Catalina State Park to the top of Mount Lemmon, an ascension of over 6500 feet. That hike is a good analogy of the journey that you are hopefully preparing to take.  It will hold challenges, and frustration, sometimes even fear (Like getting unexpected snow and sleeping under a freezing sky) yet unimaginable beauty and good surprises along the way.  As was mine, your sense of accomplishment will be immeasurable.  As long as you move toward your priority, reaching your goal, of a life worth living is attainable sooner rather than later.

My "WHY"

Educating others about behavioral health is a passion.

Part of my process is holding up a "mirror" so others can find the things they'd like to change and enjoy the process of building a life worth living.  My favorite word is hope, and it is something that I truly like to share with others.

Often, people are not comfortable sharing the stories that brought them to me.  However, I provide a safe space for them to share their hopes and dreams, concerns and challenges. I have life experience including over 25 years of being supportive professionally to those with behavioral health challenges.

In addition to teaching dialectical behavioral tools, I enjoy teaching psych education.  Education about the brain, hormones and coping behaviors help people feel more in control of what is going on - both inside and out - and they feel less like they are on a chaotic emotional roller coaster.

Reviews and Testimonials

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

A benefit of CBT is it helps you examine your thoughts and adapt your behaviors to change the outcomes. That way, no matter what situations you face, you can feel confident that you will successfully navigate that season of life.
